We’re not a shopfront business — every abalone order is harvested fresh just for you. After you place an order, we wait for the right weather conditions before heading out to sea. Once harvested, your live abalone will be ready for collection from our Mornington facility that same day.
We take orders from as little as 1 kg up to 500 kg. Prices vary depending on the size of your order — the larger the quantity, the better the rate.
Most days, we’re out diving or maintaining the boat, so the best way to contact us is by email at sales@victorianabalone.com.
Please include your phone number, and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
Place your order with us at sales@victorianabalone.com. We’ll stay in touch and confirm the next available day to head out and harvest your order.
You must provide us with your correct name and address to comply with fisheries regulations and you will be provided with a hard-copy receipt alongside your abalone catch.
Please note that dive days depend on weather conditions and deckhand availability.

On your allocated dive day, our divers head out early to collect your abalone. While at sea, they’re generally uncontactable. When they return to the boat ramp, they must first report to Fisheries and complete all the required legal paperwork — this process can take a little while. Once they’re on the way back to the factory in Mornington, they’ll get in touch to update you on their ETA and confirm your catch details.

Once the divers return to the factory and finalise the required fisheries paperwork, your abalone will be ready for collection.
Each catch is weighed at the boat ramp immediately upon landing, a process known as beach weighing. Because live abalone naturally lose some water weight after harvest, you may notice a reduction of up to 10% by the time you receive your catch. This is a normal part of handling fresh, wild-caught shellfish.
All bundles of abalone will be in tamper-proof and sealed bags. Each package is fitted with an official Fisheries-compliant tag, which must remain attached until you reach your place of consumption. Likewise, the receipt provided must stay with the abalone until that time.
Abalone will experience water weight loss of between 1-10% depending on how long they have been out of the water. This may impact the weight of the abalone by the time you open and consume.
You must comply with your responsibilities as outlined in the Fisheries Act 1955 (Vic) and Fisheries Regulations 2019.
You are permitted to on-sell all packages of abalone, provided strict requirements are followed:
Packages must remain sealed until they reach the final place of consumption.
A long-form receipt must be completed for each subsequent sale.
If you intend to on-sell your catch, it’s essential that you fully understand your responsibilities with Fisheries and other regulatory bodies.
We’re more than happy to walk you through the process, as we believe compliance is crucial to ensure this way of sale can continue.
